Although the April 1 Shandaken town board meeting lasted only 18 minutes, town supervisor Rob Stanley predicted that May’s agenda would be full, with reports due on the recreation department master plan, the school district budget, and the long-awaited town-wide flood mitigation plan. Also in May, Shandaken will embark on several stream management projects, mostly in Chichester, designed to prevent the buildup of gravel downstream, which contributed to the devastation wrought in the Phoenicia area by Hurricane Irene in 2011.
