In celebration of this Summer Solstice, the Saugerties Art Lab will be holding a special hike to one of the grandest places to catch the dusky light as it lasts beyond expectation: the Saugerties Lighthouse, located as close to the center of the Hudson River as one can walk. There, photographer Dan Goldman and naturalist Krista Munger will lead a Nature-inspired discussion and photography as the afternoon slips into evening.
Folks will meet Tuesday, June 21 at 4 p.m., with the first part of the event expected to end around 5:30 p.m. and a slideshow titled “Dialogues with Nature” beginning at 7 p.m. Be sure to bring a picnic and stay around as the night slowly descends, as well as a flashlight for the walk back to civilization. High tide will occur at 7:25 p.m., so you might also want to bring boots, or be prepared for some barefoot walking if lingering long with the Sun. Meet in the parking lot of the Lighthouse.
The event is free and open to the public and is suitable for people of all ages. Contact Art Lab at (845) 246-5577 or saugertiesartlab@earthlink.net for more information.
