In the business of farming and providing foods for Hudson Valley region residents for nearly a century, Adams Fairacre Farms celebrate this time of year with an annual Harvest Fest at each of their stores. While not much actual farming takes place these days, the company is still owned and operated by the Adams family: brothers Ralph and Don, and Don’s sons Patrick and Steve. Harvest Fest is a great opportunity to meet members of the family (if you can find them in the crowd) and greet the Adams family of employees, all of whom are joyfully bracing themselves for a blitz of customers for these events.

Anyone who has shopped at Adams knows that the shelves are stocked with locally grown and produced items, and gourmet delicacies from around the world as well. In addition to the everyday display of meats, fish, cheeses, bakery goods, fresh veggies, candy and floral abundance, the stores will offer fun for kids with free pony rides, petting zoos, face-painting and lots of other fun activities. Radio station WRWD will be at each event, cranking out continuous country music and broadcasting amongst the pumpkins, apples, pears and mums. And in addition to Adams’ selection of ready-to-consume edibles, there will undoubtedly be plenty of special foods being served up.

Celebrate the season at the three locations of Adams Fairacre Farms from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 in Kingston and Sunday, October 9 in Poughkeepsie; and from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 in Newburgh. Kingston store office manager Jen Braun says that each location puts on its own event, so one might offer hayrides and another might feature live music. Visit www.adamsfairacrefarms.com for more detailed information on activities at each store, located on Route 44 in Poughkeepsie, Route 9W in Kingston and Route 300 in Newburgh.
