Aldermen, Gallo differ on apartment inspection rules

Mayor Shayne Gallo’s proposal to crack down on substandard properties by requiring landlords to have their properties inspected each time a new tenant moves in appears headed for a rocky reception at the Common Council. If the measure fails to pass, it would represent the first setback for Gallo’s ambitious plan to tackle issues of blight through revamped laws and tougher code enforcement.
