Three charged with robbing Sawyer Savings

Three alleged bank robbers are in custody following the robbery of the Sawyer Savings Bank in Saugerties Tuesday. Arrested and charged with the bank robbery were John B. Streb Jr., 27, of Rochester, N.Y.; Ryan W. Novick, 31, of Rochester, N.Y. and Amy K. Muhs, 29, of Albany, N.Y. The three suspects are charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony that can carry a maximum sentence of up to 25 years in prison.

According to the police report, one of the three suspects entered the bank, located at 87 Market Street in the village, shortly after 1 p.m. and demanded money. The trio then made off with cash, said Deputy Police Chief Joseph Sinagra. The amount is not being disclosed as the case is still under investigation.
