“The name of the Espresso was once ‘The Nook’ and it was a central place in Woodstock during the years when I grew up there in the summers when I was 7 and 8 years old, painting with Louise Brock, the wife of Brock Brokenshaw,” says Peter Yarrow, of his formative years in the town. “Sigmund Menkes, who taught at the Art Students League, bought one of my pictures and later, as a teenager, I studied with him at Art Students League. I was mainly focused on art, not music, at the time.”
