At the peak of Fleischmanns’ popularity as a summer resort community, it was said that “there were so many people on the street, if you fainted, you would not hit the ground,” mused Zoom Gallery owner Gloria Zola-Mulloy. Although, like many other Catskill Mountain communities, Fleischmanns, a small incorporated Village in the town of Middletown in Delaware County, just over the line from Shandaken on Route 28, has struggled economically since the heyday of the resorts ended, the community has begun to revive over the past decade, thanks to grants, renovation, and new businesses. Working in its favor is an abundance of local color.
